hi im setting up a 210 6ft tank and have been thinking about getting a few pumps i was wondering how many do you think i would need for a SPS system and what about placment thanks i have always used tunze pumps but the vortechs and really gotten my interest
i was thinking 4 to start off and putting them all on the back glass good idea bad idea????? i will be using a wavebox so i will have some side to side flow but i cant decide if 4 on the back would be good or bad
That would work fine. I have one on each end pulsing and I have two on the back wall in reef crest. I have the two on the back wall on battery backups and the two in pulse mode I shut off at night with my Reefkeeper2
thanks for all the info i was going to go with 2 6201's but i think i will be able to hide the vortechs better on my black background so i think im going to go with 4 of them
With four VorTech's on a 6' tank you will have an easy time creating waves. I recommend you try out the pumps' wave creation capabilities first then decide whether the box is worth it.
Ideally you'd want one on each side of the tank and perhaps one or two on the back. If this is not possible you can run three or four along the back but if you have a sandbed you will have to turn the flow rate down to avoid moving a lot of sand.
The external motors blend in pretty darn well even if used on the side because of their sharp design. Also, when looking at the tank from the front you shouldn't even see them because of your perspective.
