how many fish do you have?!

In My 90G SPS Tank, without the SPSs yet...

- ocelaris pair
- flame hawk
- pseudochromis purple
- sixline
- salarias fasciatus

I'm going to take the ocelaria pair and salarias out when it vanishes the algae and intend to put some green chromis (5) and maybe 1 yellow tang.

Hey hornet, do you know the male/female ratio on the bartlett, and how long you've had them? TIA.

You need to add more:

2 Starki damsel
2 green chromis damsel
1 Emperator angel

total 60 fish as of tonight. I still plan to add 5 more Sunbust anthias.

I have about 5 female barlett anthias ans 11 male. Some of them are over six months, some are over two weeks. They do change sex though.

Here are some pics:

In my 50g Im successfully keeping
3 blue/green chromis,
1 maroon clownfish,
and 1 copperband butterflyfish

Considering a green clown goby possibly sometime in the future. Anyone see any problems with this?

Anyone consider what's best for the fish instead of just the corals?

If you want fish that live 10+ years you can't overstock like some of the lists I see in this thread. Anthias might be the exception........they should live a good 5 years.

If you can't keep fish alive for this long overcrowding should be looked at as a cause.

I believe people have had issues with clown gobies irritating/nipping polyps of acro colonies. Not sure if this is all the time, or just during breeding though...

I think that's a valid point. I considered it. All my fish are small (anthias, gobies, wrasses). My only big guys are a pair of swallowtail angels and a couple tangs. The male angel tops at 7". He's almost there now. The female is much smaller...I don't see her growing much in the male's presence. The tomini tang will top out at 6" or so. The only one I might have to remove down the road is the PBT. Not too bad. Also, I put a lot of consideration into which niche the fish occupies, so as to minimize competition/aggression. My two tangs are my only "rock picking" fish, so they bother no one. Planktivores seem to be able to coexist with little if any aggression.

can we keep a same tank in ten years? I guess not, we either upgrade or get out the hobby lol...

My 180g is 15 yrs old. The biggest reason people get out of the hobby is because they keep killing fish & corals.

I've had my fish in various tanks over the years & they still live long & happy lives because I don't overcrowd. Talk to me when one of your tangs is 13+ years old like my purple tang.

In my experience in keeping marine fish if you overcrowd they don't live long & most fish die at the hands of fishkeeper mistakes. People kill fish..............they die because of poor care & maintenance. They very rarely just die for no reason, unless they are very old.
