How many fish per gallon

I know this is a vague question because it depends on what type of fish, however, given a tank full of docile fish, sand dwellers and reef swimmers, how many inches of fish can live healthily in a 34 gal reef tank? I have a red sea max 130 which has a skimmer as well. Thanks for your help?

It depends on the fish. If you come up with fish you would like to put in your tank we would be happy to give you feedback on it!

Thanks for the input. I have 2 ocellaris, 3 fire fish gobies, 1 yellow clown goby, 1 target mandarin goby, 1 blue stripe pipe fish, 1 twin spot goby.

I think you could add another fish, but I wouldn't add another bottom dweller/rock dweller.

Something like a small wrasse, or dwarf angelfish.

9 fish in a 34 gallon? I would say you are stocked, if not over stocked..

+1 to this. Also in general both the twinspot and the mandarin are bad choices for a 34g tank. Both are likely to starve to death very slowly unless you have them eating prepared foods.

The inch-per-gallon rule does not apply to marine aquariums. Fish individuality and bio-load capacity determine how many and water fish can be kept in a certain sized tank.
