how many is too many

Just a quick question for anybody willing to answer. I have a 55g tank and so far two condy anemones. In the (hopefully) near future i will be adding a bubble tip and a carpet to the tank, but i dont want them to be crowded and i was just wonderin if they would crowd eachother or would they be ok? I have had thoughts on taking one of the condys out anyway, but would rather avoid it for the animals sake (stressin it out n all that stuff).

From what I've read on here when were in similar situations, the two different species of anemones didn't do too well together. One would usually be stressed out until the other anemone was removed from the tank.

A carpet alone will max out that size tank, and they need very stable params/conditions, not the easiest to care for.
A BTA is much more forgiving.
Condy's are not the best for a host, I'm not sure they are even considered to be a host nem as they do have a much stronger sting, though some clowns do take them up as a host.
I prefer to keep just one species, especially in a tank that size, and just one unless you plan to make it nem specific.

I would avoid the condylactis all together. BTA is really a forgiving creature as stated by davocean, a carpet would outgrow the aquaria later down the road... which is also something to consider.

I have heard that about the condys and was unaware when i bought them...but neither of them are hosts and i wouldnt be completley devastated to loose them because i like the bubble tips more anyway.

As for the carpet i definetley want a small one and hopefully by the time it is too large for the tank i will have upgraded anyway

Thanks for the reply everybody

I haven't had good luck mixing E. quadricolors (( BTA )) with S. haddoni (( one of the "carpets" )), the S. haddoni would not stay settled in until I removed all the E. quads.

Don't count on having the upgraded tank -- first, S. haddonis grow shockingly fast, and get HUGE. Plus, a lot of upgrades just don't happen -- was suppose to have my big tank 5+ years ago, still waiting.

lol yea i can see that happenin to me...thanks for the input

Well.. I have a condy and a RBTA.. which I am having issues keeping them seperated. RBTA will find it's way back to the condy and park right next to it and sting the crap out of each other. Which I have a thread going now, for seeking help on getting the condy off the rock the rbta is on.

^^ Try ice on the condy to help make it release.
Do as you wish, but I personally would remove the condy.
For best chance of success one species of nem is what I would advise, anything more comes w/ more risk.
