I was thinking about how many pumps I have driving my system continually or intermittently here's mine:

Main return..................Mag 18.
skimmer.......................pump on Deltec 1250.
Phosban reactor..........mini jet.
calcium reactor.............Eheim 1048.
Fuge pump...................after market 700 gph.
Tunze (2)......................6100's.
Aqua lifter pump...........4 gph.
Chiller pump..................Mag 9 (plumed in garage).
Auto top off...................After market 700 gph.
Auto water change....... Mag 12. (to be installed next month)

Electric bill last month....$329.00:eek1:

skimmer.............sedra 5000
return................quietone 6000
closed loop........ampmaster 3000

Refugium return pump - Mag 7
Main Flow- 3 Tunze 6000
Chiller pump - Mag 5
Auto top off - mini jet - Aqua lifter for reservoir circulation
Skimmer pump - Mag 18

Average electric bill $125.00

Main tank--2 Koralia 3's
Return--Mag 5
uv--Max 600
Skimmer--Mag 6
Overflow siphon--Max 600
I don't like to think about my electric bill!

CL = hammerhead
Skimmer = GenX PCX 55 HP
Sump, Ca reactor, phosban reactor, fuge, chiller = panworld 100 (turned half way down).

so 3. :)

Oh yeah, temporary UV on an ancient empty fluval 303.

Is there any way to run everything on one pump and have some sort of diverting system?

I've seen systems that ran several tanks and the skimmer off of one pump. Calcium reactor could probably be also. You just need to put a valve before each device to control how much flow it gets. This can be tricky though, because changing one valve may change the flow through other valves because of changing system pressure.

I have:

Return pump: QO3000 - 700+gph (also runs my RDSB)
Closed loop: QO6000 - 1400+gph
Display PHs: 2x MJ1200 - 295gph each
Auto top-off/kalk dispenser: aqualifter - 3lph
Skimmer: MJ1200 - 295gph

Main return..................Mag 9.5
Skimmer.......................Mag 3
Phosban reactor..........MJ600
Kalk/Top off..................Aqua Lifter
NatuReef......................MJ600
Tank Circulation...........Tunze 6060
Fuge Circulation...........MJ1200

I wish I could get my electric bills back down into the 3 hundreds...
:mad2:

Yes, I have my return pump split to many things, as I mentioned above. It takes some tweaking though, but once I got it down, it remains constant. I personally would always keep the skimmer on a dedicated pump. Skimmers can be finicky enough without the added variability of a shared pump, IMHO.

Return = Panworld 50px
Skimmer = Sicci (as of today!!)
Circulation = Tunze 6025 and Maxi-mod 1200
Phosban = generic 400gph pump

Ahhhh, let's see....

(1) Hammerhead on CL

(1) Iwaki 100 on chiller

(1) Iwaki 70 on skimmer

(4) Iwaki 70 on 1" sea swirls

(1) iwaki 20 on calcium reactor

(2) small feed pumps

(1) mag 7 on rowaphos reactor

(4) 6200 Tunze on multicontroller

And I still need more flow.....

Return: Mag 7
Display circ: (2) Tunze 6000
Closed Loop: Iwaki 40
Skimmer/frag tank feed: Iwaki 70
Phosban reactors, CaRx: (3) maxijets
Frag tank circulation: (5) maxijets
CaRx recirculation: Eheim

(1) Tunze 6000
(1) Tunze Nanostream 6045
(2) GenX PCX 55HP - Skimmer + Return
(2) MJ 1200 - Display Circulation + Calcium Reactor Feed
(1) Mag 250 - Calcium Reactor

Sounds like everyone is buying quality equipment these days, I remember when all there was was Hagen 801's 802's - Woo Hoo!.My first FW tank was in 1981 (10 gal.), then the big day came in 1986 a 55 gal. Oh Yea Baby, then the 89' earth quake destroyed it, 1994 came around and I saw my first home edition aquarium at the LFS from that point on it's been a roller coaster ride. (Oh yea, I paid top dollar for everything - No ebay, craigslist, internet).
