i have 1 peppermint in roughly an 15-18 gallon.

can i have another?:D

i was thinkin maybe a cleaner shrimp. is that too much, or should i stick with the same species?

whudda-y'all think?

I had a cleaner shrimp that killed my peppermint in a 10G.

Maybe the shrimp was hungry, the tank was sort of new and the shrimp went crazy whenever I fed my fish.

I've heard that this aggression is pretty rare, but it happend. I'm glad it did, it was fun to watch, and my peppermint had already done his job - eaten my aiptasia.

pip is my home-boy!

he was intially introduced to my box to rid aptasia and provide Bane (my mantis) with a quick meal.

first day they walked right up to eachother, touched, and zipped backwards.

they been chill ever since.

i dont want pip to die, but are there advantages to a cleaner vs. a peppermint?

I don't really know of advantages of Cleaner vs. Peppermint.

Well, actually...

The Cleaner is good at cleaning fish. One of mine had a case of ich (ick, I don't know) and I watched the cleaner eat all of the parasites off. I'm not certain if the peppermint will do the same.

and.. to answer your first question, I totally think you can have another shrimp in there. That's not even close to over loading in my opinion.

i have a 20....and i have a peppermint, cleaner, and coral banded in the tank...and all is well

most people would hate to hear that i have a CB shrimp in with the others.....but he hasnt shown any aggression, he doesnt even leave his cave.............im sure a pep and cleaner will be fine together

when y'all say cleaner your meaning the lil white ones with the red "skunk" stripe right?

not the coral banded cleaner shimp as they are so casually labled at my lfs?

I have a peppermint shrimp (for apatasia cleaning) and a cleaner shrimp in my 20G and they are fine, they are on opposite sides of the tank and mind their own businesses.

I have a 20xh and had 2 skunk cleaners and 3 peppermints. I put 2 Tunze Nano Streams in there and within two days I had 1 peppermint left. He's still in there and happy.

i have 5 shrimp in my 20g. 1 cleaner, 1 pep, 2 camel, and 1 blue legged coral band. they seem to get along quite nicely. the pepermint and the camels are buddys, and the coral band and cleaners are buddys.

okay with the addition of another shrimpy-wimp, will i be overstocked?

lets call it 18 gal opposed to the 15 in my sig.

1 damsel
1 fire fish
1 peppermint shrimp
(MAYBE ANOTHER SHRIMP):D
Bane the mantis.

and a fluctuating CUC.

whadda-ya think?

I think I'd be far more worried about the mantis shrimp or the nasty tempermant of a damsel then another shrimp... I think a cleaner shrimp would be the least of your troubles.

well hes been co-habitating with everybody fine for the life of my tank. they're not his favorite food group.

but what id really like to know is if my tank is overstocked....

2 fish... few inverts, no I don't think it's over stocked but I guess that depends largely on how you keep it up (ie water changes etc)

In my 24g aquapod, which is pretty jammed with rocks/corals to the very top I have a clown, purple firefish, 6 line wrasse, green banded goby, and CUC which includes a small emerald crab. I plan to add a skunk cleaner shrimp soon. I also do weekly 5g water changes and run purigen & chemipure.

I have big female coral banded shrimp and peppermint shrimp in my 20g. The peppermint shrimp rarely comes out.

I think you should be ok with more shrimps.

I have one pair of mating Coral Bandeds, 8 pepermints, 3 cleaner shrimps, and a pacific blue lobster in a 65g tank.... I do feed heavy, but as of yet no one has eaten anyone else.
Oh and my favorites, how could I forget...
I have 2 bait shrimps. The same ones you buy at the supermarket to make a plater of shrimp and cocktail sauce.
They are the neatest scavengers....been with me for 5 months.
