Andy,

Can you tell me more about your 90 gallon? Do you have sump? What type of filtration do you use? Do you only add food and calcium to the tank? What type of calcium do you use? I know you only do a few water changes a year, but how much water do you change? What type of salt do you use? I am impressed and jealous. Keep up the good work.

Cheers,
Chris
40 gallon sump with Cheato. Kent calcium. Thats about it. 2 water changes a year. I change about 40% of the water out when I do the change. No protein skimmer, no calc reactor, very simple.

Coral in upper left is a colt fragged from home tank.

I have a 200 at home that I do about 70% water change every 3 weeks. The office tank water tests are perfect every week, for the elements we can test for.

The water is definately not dirty water as thought mushrooms like.

After some thought I am sure that the small amount of fish & food that goes into the water produces very little waste.

My home 200 gal has large fish and alot of food= a large amt. of waste= frequent water changes.

I have 3 250 watt MH on home tank & 7 VHO's & I get better shroom growth on the 90 with only 4 vho's. The green/purple colts grow great with either.

"see this is a simple hobby!!! "

Now that's funny!

But it is amazing that this simple tank does suprisingly well.

My 75g softy, mushroom dominated tank. I dont have the wild spreading of mushrooms that I would like yet, but I do have some large individuals.

Cool thanks. I feel your pain, I have had a couple of power outages while away on holiday and come back to not much left.

I ask because I have been trying to shift my tank to favor mushrooms for a few years now, but I suspect I have too much flow.

I only changed the wat once or twice a year, not too many fis & they liked VHOs. 2 white actintic & 3 blue if I remember right.

Nothing like walking into the office to get equipment for a customer on a holiday & seeing 90 gallons of water on the parking bay floor when you arrive. Only been at that company 4 or 5 months. Good thing the owner was a 20 yr friend.
