How many snails is too many to add at once?

I have a 300g w/ 375g total water volume. I only have a single fighting conch right now and I want to add some snails. due to the cost of shipping, adding smaller bunches over time is not economical. I'd like to add the following:

10 trochus
10 nassarius vibex
10 nassarius tongan
10 cerith

Is that too many to add to the system all at once? Seems to me it would be fine.

I wouldn't have a problem with the number. I'd be cautious about your source. There are lower price options that are really to good to be good.

Anyway—that’s 20 herbivores for a large tank. You could easily add another 10. Preferably a third species. Something that would eat hair algae if it ever arises, such as Spiny Star Astreas or Baja Margaritas.

You also have 20 detrivores/meat eaters. The Tongans are bigger and hungrier than the Vibex. Do you have enough leftover food and poop to sustain them?

Plenty of leftover food. I only have 7 fish, so I tend to "overfeed" in the traditional sense in order for everyone to get food. My version of slowly stocking is apparently 1 fish per year!

I've seen some questionable options with really cheap prices scattered around the internet. Not everything called nassarius is good nassarius.

I've had a conch that's been around for a few years now. That seems about right for everything else, but the trochus and nassarius snails are pretty much a self sustaining population.

reefcleaners or my salwater fish store are other good options. Also second the opinion that you could add more at one time especially of different species.

LA IMO. They'll have everything you need s their super Togan nassarius snails are beasts! Reefclesners isn't bad either but most of the snails I've ever order wanted to climb our. Make sure you have a tight fiting top if you go this way.

40 snails is certainly not too much to add to a 300 gallon tank..

If I had a 300G tank I'd probably have 150-200 snails in it..

Definitely not enough. You can double that easily for your system.

From a water volume standpoint you could add a lot more but I would not add as many as Reefcleaners suggests, maybe 1/2 of their recommendation. The amount of food is going to determine how many are sustainable.
