How many sps keeper are running bio pellets?

biopellets are another form of carbon dosing for increased bacteria cultures.

+1 for pellets. still use 1.5 cups of GFO and 2 cups carbon monthly. Not dosing bacteria. Everything is great!

I use brs pellets but I switched from the brs reactor to a next reef reactor. The improvement was remarkable. For 8 + weeks the pellets did nothing because every day I had to shack the brs reactor. When I switched it took 1 week and all my algae was gone. I also use brightwell mb7 & amino acids.

This is something I've heard a few times. I always look at BRS first, but I've heard bad things about their BP reactor.

Nextreef is good? Anyone try the SRO BP reactors?

I've been using Bio Pallets for about six month and been happy with the color of my SPS. The only issue I have is that I can't seem to get rid of Cyanobacteria which I never had before using the pallets. Any suggestions?

I ran them for about 5 months or so, I've been off now for around 2months. I've been just keeping an eye on my NP, and am thinking of re-adding them as i've found I need to feed more lately to keep my fish from picking on some corals. I did as well have a tiny bit of cyano but nothing to really care about.

I'm still learning about biopellets. Could i add a media reactor with some biopellets on to my 29g biocube? Do biopellets feed the coral? If my nitrate, and phosphate levels aren't that high will it still help? I need my sps to color up...

running them for over 6 months now. I havent tested for nitrates or phospahates, but the color of my sps are decent.....atleast I think. Algae is also very minimal and I feed what would be considered heavy.

Used it for a and will never go back . Caused my take to crash my alk went so low because of the pellets . luckly i caught it on time . Pellets take alot of alk from your system i was dosing more alk when i was on the pellets. All i can tell you is it works for some but not all.

I am running biopellets on my new rimless reef and also ran them on my biocube. I was having nitrate issues with my biocube and the biopellets helped me resolve that issue. Be sure you are seeding the biopellets though with MB7 or something else. When you start seeding your biopellets you will notice your skimmer start to pull really nasty stuff. You will defiantly notice a difference once you start seeding in your skimmate. I have been really pleased with my biopellets and know a bunch of people running them with great success.

+1
I also run 150g of GFO in a 100 gallon. NO and PO near 0.

I run bio pellets. I'm happy thus far, except that I need to get a better reactor. My Phosban 650 simply doesn't cut it.

what are all your params for those running them:

cal, alk & po4 & nitrates if you know

Yes I would like to know as well, I would like to start running pellets but my ALK is running rock steady right now at 10dkh. I've heard horror stories of SPS crashing when trying to run pellets in conjunction with high ALK. Anybody running a high ALK level and pellets?

+1 and -1
I used the katalyst when my tank looked good already. For the first month i had a bad diatom issue, then it turned into the worst cyano problem I have had in my own tank. I went thru a 500ml bottle of MB7. After 4 months of battling the cyano I took em out and replaced with carb and gfo, and everything went back to normal. I am still not sure what went wrong, but I will not be trying them again.

aka lal im having the oppisite problem. my corals are very deep colored and my water is constantly high in nitrate and phos is .08ppm , the nitrate keeps crawling to 40 every week, i only feed my tank 4 times weekly

Are you running the biopellets in a reactor? And in the right amount?

For how long?

I recovered some color with heavier feeding but my fish are always with a big round belly, lol.
So I want to try the Zeo supplements to step up the color.
