Hey guys I have a 90 gallon tank and want to keep a yellow tang can I keep two or can I keep 1 yellow and 1 mimic or willl one yellow b max I wish blue tangs couldn't ge tobig but o we'll happy holidays

I would keep the mimic and ditch the yellow, because of coloration and demeanor. You could put them both in, but there's so many other choices you'll find it easy to leave the yellow behind.

Good I have always had a soft spotfor yellows but since I can have them both that'll be great I want a blue tang but I know thay get to big but ifi can get them the yellow and mimic that would be great

I would be very wary of adding a yellow in a 90 gallon, they are just too aggressive in most cases with other tangs. I think a mimic would be a much better choice as wold most of the bristletooth tangs.

You can and really should only keep 1 tang in a 90 no matter what their aggression level is. All tangs are aggressive, but some not as much as others. You can do a scopas, yellow, bristletooth, or a mimic tang. Choose only one. People have tried multiple tangs in 4ft tanks and it doesn't end very well to say the least. Fish that are cramped kill other fish until they feel like they have enough room. They start off with the most similar. So if you did a yellow and mimic the yellow would probably kill the mimic first, then work its way through your stock list.

I would say scopas, the purple will get too big. They need a 5' 120 gallon tank. I think the yellow needs a similar tank to the purple.

Purples and yellows are among the smallest tangs in the genus but are also among the scrappiest. The scopas can get as big as the sailfin depending on locality but I've rarely seen really big ones in the trade. If this was my tank and I had to choose between the three you are considering I would go with a small or juvenile purple and make him the centerpiece fish.

Do you not remember this thread??? That juvie purple tang will not stay that way for long. Todd said maybe a year and you will have the devil living in person in your tank. It's just not good husbandry to put a fish in your tank that is too big for what you have now. You should do a scopas tang, mimic(any kind I believe) tang, or bristletooth tang. A yellow may work, but I find them to be boring and too common compared to mimic tangs, especially the chocolate mimic tang. Just stock according to what you can put in your tank and leave it there for its entire life with out having to upgrade.

But in thought You can't always judge animals. I have a 4 foot 125 with a very happy family of tangs... Yellow , purple ,scopas, blue hippo, vlimingi, achillies, lavender ,and a yellow eye and never have problems ? I will try to post a vid just don't really know how to put pics or vids on here?

Seems like you will have problems down the road, not enough swimming room for eight full grown tangs. There will be trouble!

Good luck with that ! if this is true you'll be killing fish in no time. But I think this was put here just to see peoples reaction.

Lol no I wish I could figure out how to post a vid on here . Pm me your phone number and I will send you a vid . They have all been in there over a year . Mabe you could upload it for me . Computers are not my thing . Or send me a email address and I will send a vid to you . They are all big fish though and I don't know if that would make a diffrence
