how many vortechs for a 90g

How many pumps are ideal for a 90g reef? Would one be enough? Also to have one run as a master and another as a slave, does the slave need a controller aswell or does it run of the master controller? Thanks.

(2) is probably the correct answer, but I run (1) Vortech half throttle and a modified Tunze 6025(1200+ gph). The return feed accounts for a decent amount of flow as well.

One will be fine to start out with, especially if your tank is not entirely SPS. Two pumps will allow you to take advantage of the slave/master options. You need two MP40w pumps for them to be capable of communicating with one another.
