How much do little clams eat?

I'm setting up a new tank and it is going to have an integrated copepod/greenwater culture on it. I figure that it would be a great place for small clams that require phyto and stuff as food. My question is: Would the baby clam consume the phyto too fast to make it practical and thereby eat all the pods food?

Thanks!
Eric

small(young) clams have a high mortality rate and its not because there not feed. just like every other living creature they are more susceptible to predation, stress and disease. these small clams can sustain themselve on light alone. adding some food(phyto) may help but it wont insure success.

now to your main question. unless your trying to keep this clam in a very small tank i highly doubt it will filter so much water to keep a healthy pod culture going
