How much flow does my 46 bowfront need

I am wondering what would be a good water pump for my 46 g. bowfront tank. I had a maxijet 1200 and I think it was too much for my tank (It only rated 295 gph). Things were blowing around and polyps/shrooms were detaching. I am mostly keeping softies, but I recently added some hardier LPS and SPS. Birdsnest and Acan. So, does anyone know what pump I should get?

I have a koralia 4 and a modded maxi jet 1200 in my 46g bowfront. SPS seem to love it! softies need to be positioned in areas with lower flow. Everything seems to be growing very fast and happy!

Do I need 2 pumps or is 1 enough?

I personally use two to cause variations where the two paths collide. I set them up in an / pattern. It also aggravates the top very well which is good for oxygen in the water. I have the koralia in the front right just before the bow and the modded maxi jet in the back left pointing towards each other.

If you are keeping sps 1 maxi jet 1200 is definately not enough flow. I have heard recommendations of 20X turnover an hour approx 920gph.

Your stuff doesn't blow around? That seems like a whole lot of flow to me....

Nothing blows around! I superglued the sps frags to rock and placed softies where rock ledges blocked some of the flow.
