How much growth is good growth

What is generally accepted as good growth for branching SPS? I have gotten several inches on many of mine in the past year. In the last three months I got "buds" off the encrusting of my GARF bonsi that grew over and inch. Most of the growth I got happened in the last 6 months.

So any of you guys has a number, even if it is a ballpark one?

It's going to be different between the dozens of different species of branching acroporas, and then even more different for branching montipora... and pocillopora... and stylophora... lol yeah no real general number.

On the other hand, giving specifics is good. Such as nubs turning into 1 inch of garf in 3 months is pretty good from my experience.

Here are two pics on the Bonsai roughly 3 months apart.

Looks great! Even that blue mille(?) on the right has grown quite a bit in that time!

Thanks, the blue mille would be much bigger if I did not keep accidentally fragging it during maintenance. I knocked two branches off this weekend, enough to make 6 frags. I knocked off 2 frags worth from it last weekend. The thing is so fragile I look at it funny and something falls off.

Ship one up to me! lol

That's definitely good. Much faster than what I see in my tank for sure. That said my stuff grows painfully slow. I think the size also makes a difference. Your pieces have some size to them, most of my stuff is an inch and those take forever. I noticed that as my pieces get bigger, they really start to take off. Looks like you're doing something right!

They crept along for the first 4-6 months then started to grow like crazy. Everything in my tank was started from +/- 1" frags and 1-2 heads if it were an LPS.
