i know that there is talk of electricity cost going up(it already did) but i was wondering how much it cost per killawatt per hour

if you know let me know thanks a ton

there isn't a simple answer for this. it starts out cheap but as you go beyond certain thresholds the cost goes up, for example it can start at 0.04 and end up at 0.26 depending on how much you use.

the electricity meter says that even after all this i would only be using abot11 dollars amonth for a 120 gallon

ITEM - KWH/MONTH -COST/MONTH
Lighting(full spectrum) -7.6 -1.98 250
Lighting(actinic) -7.6 -1.98 250
Circulation pump -8.82 -2.29 145
Skimmer pump -2.43 -0.63 45
Powerheads(constant) -5.66 -1.47 93
Heaters -12.17 -3.16 400
UV sterilizer -0.76 -0.2 25

Total -45.04 -11.71 1208 WATTS

The breakpoints are on your electric bill. What kind of lights/skimmer/pumps did you plug into the calculator?

There are a lot of other factors at play here. That setup would probably run about 30 to 35 kwH per month and if your electic bill is already low then it shouldn't cost that much extra. If your bill is already high due to AC, old house, etc. then the tank will pile on at the higher rates.

in the chart thing it comes up at 45 kwh and its a brand new apartment so does it seem right that it would only cost about 12 bux extra a month(we dont use ac,new place, very electricity effecient people)

What's the total bill for the average month.

At 8 hours per day just for the MH if it's only drawing 500w (it may be higher) and based on a cost of 12Ã"šÃ‚¢/kwh that's almost $15 by itself.

$12 bucks a month is a fantasy.

You have to look at the bill, and work backwards from the top tier rate, since that would be the associated cost savings of turning all those things off.

Also keep in mind that you live out where they keep the real hot so if you don't use AC for comfort you might have to use it for the tank, or get a chiller.

eerr, why don't you take a look at your bill? that way you can calculate the average charge/KwH. that way you have a more precise number to plug into the elec calculator.

Part of the reason I moved everything from my garage to my shop was the cost of power.
This months bill for the shop is $320.23. That's a lot but then the cost per kWh is 16Ã"šÃ‚¢ flat since the lifeline stages don't apply. :)

gemini.... you better stick with your old method of calculating the cost.
