For sake of argument say three years old.

And I always see frag swaps, are there ever used equipment swaps?

Tough to say. As LEDs come to the forefront older fixtures go down in price. Personally, I'd ask $250-200???? Not sure unless I saw it. People definitely sell/swap equipment at the frag swaps. If you're prepared to unload it, it'll move if you'll fire sale it. If you wanna make some $$$ I'd hold out, but you might get stuck with it.

Is that vague enough for you ;)

Depending on age of bulbs... IMO , If only MH bulbs need to be replaced, a good fixture is about $150

It sure is, just looking for a ball park figure. I am slowly picking up equipment to set up my 120gal. I really think it makes more sense to go with LEDs the more I think about it.

LEDs come with cautions all their own, but are very attractive, used appropriately. Call that fixture $200 OBO as a good starting point.

Funny cause I paid about $800 for something similar in 2004....

It’s crazy to think a light that cost someone almost $1100 new is only worth ¼-1/5 the purchase price a few years later. I guess that is the case in any area when a “New” technology is introduced.
