How much is too much?

I just watched an ebay auction for a 6" mantis shrimp go for $81 plus $35 shipping. $116 for a peacock mantis, are you kidding me? It just shows that some people are so impatient that they will overpay for anything. A little reseach would have proven that the same mantis could be had for $80-$85 dollars from mknwaves.com. Am I in the minority in thinking that over $100 is alot for a peacock mantis, regardless of size?

even at 80-85 from mknwaves.com tack on another like 40-ish for shipping.

As the popularity grows so does the price!

gahhhh... I can get a peacock for 20$. and I live in canada! You'd think prices in the states would be less.

Yep, they are 2--30 bucks here, usually 15-20 for smaller ones. Most of mine have been free, however, or very near it. Ahhh...having friends in the LFS that like to come to my club.

My favorite LFS had a monster female that I didn't ask the price on (she was huge), but I have been told that if I want a smaller one, he can get it to me for under $50.

I saw the mantis that I believe you are talking about (Gateway Aquatics St. Louis). It was a monster and very brightly colored. The asking price at the LFS it was at was lower than the price it went for on ebay and no shipping. The person who bought it was local if it the same one and thus no shipping charges. Some places just can't get a mantis that big.

That mantis is so pretty!! I was flip-flopping on if I wanted one or not, then I saw the one at Gateway. We are now setting up a 30 gal for one. We had a bid on that one too, but it went way over our max bid.

I bid it to $80 was in town for the week saw it at the shop and figured since i didnt have to pay shipping it wouldnr be too bad but unfortunatly didnt get
