how much rock???

i am starting a custom self-built tank. it will be 30x18x26 internally which nets me 60 gallons, but it is taller than a standard tank....i am wanting to have about 1/3 of the front base of the tank bare sand & only build the aquascaping in the rear 2/3 & up about 2/3 the tank back wall.

....so how may pounds of rock would you recommend??

1.5 - 2.0 lbs of rock per gallon is a good standard to go by.

Also, from what I have heard, building your rock against the back wall will impede flow across the back of the rock essentially reducing its effectiveness as a filtration device. Just my $.02.
