How much salt mix do you inventory?

Topic. I'm curious as to how much salt mix people keep. Couple months worth and purchase as needed? Or for instance, when there are sales do you stock up on a year's supply?

I use IO and buy it in the buckets as I like how they are sealed, have convenient handle, and when the salt is used up you have a great 5g bucket with an airtight lid.

I tend to keep at least 1x full bucket on hand at all times. I do buy 2 at a time if the are on a good sale.

I bought an IO bucket once and now I buy the box that makes more and costs less. I open one of the bags and put it in the bucket. When I am down to 1 bag, I order another case.

I stock up when the salt is on sale. To answer the question, I currently have enough to last two months on hand right now. For my water changes I mix 30g of water a week between my two tanks.

I bought a year supply because the price was right. I'm almost out... I may buy it by the bucket till the price comes again but the savings are minimal but everything helps.
Why do you ask?

I currently have 2 x RC buckets (160g ea), 2 x RC boxes (200g ea), 1 IO bucket, and 3 or 4 IO boxes. I use just over 1 50g bag per water change, so it will be gone sooner than I would like.

FWIW - the UPS guy hates me on salt day:lolspin:

I have a smaller tank so I just bought a 50 gallon bag of reef crystals and that will be enough for a few months for me. When I find a good sale on the reef crystals bucket or coral pro salt I will buy one of them. I want to switch over to coral pro but if the price is right on reef crystals I will just get that. No big difference.

BRS has their black friday sale, and trying to figure out how much to buy. I'm still working on acquiring my tank (getting quotes), but seeing as I already started buying gear figured the savings add up quickly and trying to figure out how much to buy.

I use Reef Crystal comes in 200G box with 4X 50 gallon bags, I would order more when I"m down to my last bag.

Same here. If it's on sale I'll grab some more. I think it's good practice to have at least enough to mix your entire systems worth of saltwater on hand. You can get as much as you want at a time. It won't go bad.

+1. If there's anything you need a lot of it's good buckets!

usually I buy 2, this time I bought 4 boxes of 200g reefcrystals for my 75 tank. It's on sale for $45 at dfs and amaz...

Cheaper in 50 lb buckets. ANd the buckets are good . (Oceanic). NEVER get caught without enough salt in house to replace most of your water---in case you have to.

I live in a one bedroom apartment so pretty much everything is bought on an 'as needed' basis. lol However, that said, you have to have salt. So, I buy a bucket at a time, and, with only a BioCube, that lasts a long while.

ETA: When I first set up this particular tank I thought I'd go with pre-mixed water from my LFS so that I didn't have to even store salt, but then, of course, you have to take the salt they are using, which is IO, and I don't care for IO, so I 'made room' (aka - I put my bucket of salt in the closet-area that holds my heater - shhh, don't tell Maintenance!) and started just bringing home RO from the fish store.
