i'm siliconing acrylic sheets into my sump to make air trap baffles....

it'll be 3 sheets, and will go in order of : 1 attached to bottom, 1 2" from the bottom, and 1 more attached to bottom. now, how much spaces betweem them? 1"? 2"?

First off, silicon will not hold acrylic, you need to use weld-on or some sort of other acrylic adhesive. My baffles are 1.5" apart and work well.

silicone will work if you just want to install baffles to minimize micro bubbles. however, silicone will not work if the acrylic needs to be water tight or hold up against significant water pressure.

to answer the original question, 1 inch is plenty.

if you use the weld-on now... you will never have to do it again...
if done right the first time, there will be no need for a next time :p

Silicone or weld-on glue for acrylic baffles and a glass tank?

No, I had assumed it was acrylic on acrylic. It is apparently a glass tank and he used silicon which would work...except he used 1/8th acrylic which will bow and eventually break the silicon seal.

i put 3" between mine.. but i would put atleast 2" between them...
