How much tank volume does a TBS package use?

Curious....how much water does a TBS package displace? How much for first and second half?

My 90G tank is full of SW at the moment. Trying to plan for setting up the package.

My tank water was FULL when my rocks arrived. I guess I had to empty 1/4 to 1/3 of the water to get the rocks in.

Yes, that is what I was looking for. So, you say 1/4 to 1/3 for the first 1/2 of the package? I assume the 2nd is less since it is rock with no sand.

When I loaded the first half of my 50 gal package, I had the tank ~2/3 full and then topped off from there. With the sand and 1st half of the rock, I don't think it took up more than 1/4 of the volume and probably a bit less. Putting the second half in, I removed about 10 gal from the tank. Though I don't remember exactly, I believe I ended up returning about 3 to 4 gal of that. The rock I received is far more porous than some have indicated here. HTH

Thanks for the replies. That is just the info I was looking for. I have a 90G tank and a 30G tash can. I'll empty about 25 gallons out, put the first 1/2 package in, and then top it back off. I should have enough water left in the can for a water change.
