How much to feed anemones?

I feed my BTA and RBTA silversides or shrimp every 2-3 days. I cut up the food into chunks about 1cm long and give a chunk to each.

Is this enough food for them?

I tried a whole silverside once, but the nem didn't eat it very quickly and it was stolen by a shrimp, so now I do smaller size portions which they eat.

Should I be feeding larger and/or more often?

Thanks

Martin

What lights do you have/size tank?

Are they smaller and you are trying to get them larger for your clowns?

Here is what I answered in a similar thread last week or so,

I currently have 5 Haddonis, and I only feed them every 3-4 weeks -- frozen (( thawed )) krill.

However, one of mine I have been feeding more often over the last couple of months. Long story short, last March it spawned (( due to stress )) and really hasn't been looking itself since then -- the other Haddoni in that tank has been acting/looking normal. I have noticed it looking better, once it is back to itself I will go back to my normal feeding schedule for it.

My biggest/oldest is about 15" across, give or take, and is 10+ years old. I like to, somewhat, control their size/growth by not feeding as often.

feeding just the little piece is fine, you dont wana over feed it. you tend to get the fish steeling the food issue if the food is to large in size. as far as how often i think thats a personal preference and also depends on the nems health. if its heathy then prolly no more then 3 times a week.

i agree with toddrtrex on the not feeding as often to control size.

I have a 90G with 4xTEK lights.

I do want them to grow and (hopefully) split, but quite happy with them as they are, if they choose not to :)

Thanks for the info.

I have a RBTA that's split 3x in the past few months and I give it/them a squirt of PE Mysis every 1-2 weeks. They seem very happy.

My feeling is it's better to make certain you're not overfeeding them.

Been feeding mine every 3 days. about 3/4 of a silverside. he's pushing 17" wide when opened though. I didn't really want him to get so big he blocks out the light. I figured he would have split by now.

He's a green bubble tip.

Ha.. no kidding. I can't ever feed my BTA. Everytime I do, my female perc pulls the food out and takes it to a far corner of the tank and spits it out. LOL
