How much would this TANKED tank cost

It's a mass appeal entertainment show not a serious reef keeping documentary.. Enjoy it or hate it for what it is not what you want it to be, I personally really enjoy it, on several occasionions they have said a sheet of 2" by 8foot by 4 foot acrylic costs about 10K so god knows how much the big tanks cost, and the price of even a small coral structure is a grand..

Apparently they have created their own salt mix "hotsalt" .....http://acrylictankmanufacturing.com/products/salt-mixes/hot-salt-reef/ I highly dislike this show, it's like they made it for kids ages 12 and under. they act like idiots throughout the entire show.

Can we do more KAZOO!!!

The salt is actually an excellent product but it's pretty difficult to find here in the US. It's very popular in Europe.

As far as the OPs actual question. This 700g acrylic tank/stand built by Titan Aquatics here in Arizona (one of ATMs major local competitors) is listed for $20k at Ocean Floor. I'm not sure if that is the full price of a discounted price as this tank was not originally ordered as a retail tank.

This tank that their competitor, Living Color Aquariums, did (over on the National Geographic channel) cost $150,000.

It's all staged. At least, I'm sure 99% of the "mistakes" they make to create some drama are. "Oh no! Redneck, you bonded the wrong side!" "You ran over a $10,000 piece of acrylic with your truck"

Part of me thinks that if you are a museum or a casino and are ordering a $200k+ tank, Brett/Wayde will say "We don't really screw up every time....that's just for the cameras."

I don't like the creepy guy who takes the girls fish shopping now. I liked it better when the owner of Sea Dwelling Creatures took Brett/Wayde around.

And we can stop pretending Agnes and Wayde's wife are hot...

I actually really enjoy it. While it is produced and staged, it is cool to sort of live variously through these people getting these massive tanks. And I do think most of the tanks they make that aren't out-and-out ridiculous (phone booth, skate ramp, jukebox, fridge, etc.) are pretty sweet. Users of this site aren't down for the fake corals, I'm sure, but I'm some rich singer or sports star, I wouldn't mind a 700 gallon tank with every beautiful fish under the sun that some other company maintains.

I do think they have gotten better about the tanks they build and how they stock.

Yeah, I think the materials are expensive, the labor is super expensive too. Small fake coral structures off the rack are like $1,000. Bigger ones go up quick:

I can't image what these huge custom jobs cost.

Then they sub out to these fabricators to make giant squid canopies or whatever. I think the restaurant/casino/museum tanks are crazy expensive.

Someone at RC should set up interview with Brett/Wayde and ask these questions...

I will say since I have a reef tank I am not a fan of most of the fish only with fake coral tanks they build. Some are cool but not for me. And im sure most of what we see on tv is just for the camera. I will say I have met Brett and Wade in person before and they where really cool down to earth guys. Not rude at all and just real nice (met at reefapalooza last year). Will give them a + for that.

Dude! Just read this whole story. Are you freaking kidding me?! I discovered this tank on youtube several years ago - I had no idea there was a build/tank thread on RC, and certainly had no idea this happened!

If the Tanked guys had any onions, they would do a two-hour special, where they chronicle this guy's tank, take ownership of what happened and then completely rebuild it, at their expense. The Tanked guys are worth millions. That would be a great story.

Although Peter would probably tell them to get bent....

Yeah I don't think they would own up to it. Sad too.
