How much would you pay for a bleached Plate coral?

Well, my LFS never gets in plate corals, so when I saw three, I had to have one. Purple around the rim and...white in the middle? Bleached. They have brown tentacles and the they aren't showing any skeleton...but again, bleached ( I think). They are priced at $50.00, but I just can't pay that much fore a bleached coral. I do have a %50 off any one item, but I still don't think I want to waste it on that...
Part of me thinks " Well, it'll color back up under the correct care.." and the other part thinks
" When they lower the price..." that they won't do.

So, should I buy it or leave it?

( Oh and it's a short tentacle plate...about 3", maybe a little less)

pass. get a good one from a online vendor you trust.
just like anemone, ive noticed that once they reach.a certain point there is no saving them. this may not be the case with the 1 you were looking at but it is not worth the risk in my opinion

I got one from my lfs that was 9 inches wide and 7 inches long that was bleaching in there tank for $20, it has healed in my tank so it was a nice piece (id rather save it than let it die)
talk to them and see if they will knock down the price cause it is bleached

There's a few that really are just grayish in the center with a purple rim, the easiest way to tell is to see if the rim is bleached or a solid color. They're bound to get in more eventually though :)

I'm talking dead white. And the rim isn't as strong a color as it could be, and is starting to bleach. I've seen some with green centers and purple rims,...so I was thinking that maybe that's what they could be.

They are now at $40.00, and won't go lower. They lfs hasn't fed them. they are starting to color up a little; I was right about the purple/green. I almost got one, but $40.00 still is a little too much for something that isn't as healthy as anything else.

It took me years just to try a plate coral cause I saw so many bleached. However I found a yellow LT plate coral and it is awesome! Still, I would never take the chance on anything bleached or white...unless free.

It may not be bleached I have seen them in that color before. If you like it get it and put it on the sand be in low light and if it is bleached it should regain color in a few months.

hmmm, idk about your but I can tell a difference between bleach white and green. Plate corals have bad survival rates in home aquariums. I would not even consider buying a bleached plate
