how much would you pay for this pair

These aren't your normal ocellaris clowns that retail for <$20 at every other LFS.

That is why I said 3 times retail would be fair. They are still just a clownfish. If everyone would quit bandwagon jumping and spending outrageous amounts for things in this hobby when they are deemed popular, we would not see $600 for a pair of clowns with excessive barring or acans on eBay for $1000...

They actually are being captive bred, and in your state REEFING_FIEND.

As for what I would pay, I wouldn't waste a tank on them if they were free.

I believe a pair went for $330 on EBAY last month.

Ditto! I can't see why people like these!

(I guess beauty must be in the eye of the beholder...)

Angela

Ill agree again, I would much rather have a well colored natural looking Perc like the one in Cartman5579's Avatar.

It is all a matter of taste but if I was to spend that on clownfish I would probably shell out the money for some more exotic varieties like allardi's or something.

I used to like them, but seriously...if everything was the other way around and people were used to seeing ones like this everyday in LFS's and we never saw fully barred ones...then along came a perfectly striped, brightly colored Perc or Ossc....people would be jumping all over them. If you put rarity and price out of the picture then I'd pick a "normal fully barred" perc/ossc (orange or black) ANYDAY over those (IMO) defective ones with no color.

You need to see a mature adult instead of the juveniles.
Here a mature adult:

I know some people just don't like them, while others love them. I think it's a matter of choice, and possibly because some people wallets aren't fat enough to drop that much money. Just my opinion..
And after all, doesn't everyone and their brother have a regular striped occ/perc clown???

imo those look gorgeous. I love seeing fish that you cannot find everywhere and in every tank. I might pick a pair of these up later on when my tank is more developed.

You hit the nail on the head...it's all personal preference. I'd never ever buy a bald faced blue eyed horse but some people love them. Each to his/her own...that's what makes the world go round :D

Yeah, some people like those wrinkled, hairless cats, or those little hairless chihuahuas, give me the furry ones--actually this analogy fits perfectly.

Those are just _unnatural_ looking. There is a reason everyone and their brother has regular perc/osc... they are stunning!

That think looks, um, sick.

(And, it isn't about money and I am broke, but I actually paid $90 for my black osc...)

I would pay it....for me, I love the look of the Snowflakes and would pay that if I had the opportunity. I really do believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder...if you can afford it and want it, why not?! If you know a bunch more will be flooding the market and bring the price down and you're willing to wait for them go for it....but I would buy them..in an instant...and I wouldn't have waited, gone home, see who else considers them worth it, and then hope they are still there and go back...

And Hexedagain..thank you so much for posting that gorgeous fish! WOW!

I think you should ask yourself how much you are willing to pay for moldy looking clowns when the next clown fad is probably 5 months away making your snowflakes old hat.

Ken...just as an FYI...Picasso clowns and Snowflake clowns look very very different....snowflakes have tons of white...picasso have messed up bars....very different
