This is like asking how much you would spend on a car.
It really depends on how much money the person buying it has and how much they make a year. Some will buy a used $2,000 car and others will spend over 100k. Same goes with fish tanks.

I agree 100% but that's the fun part, some people who spend $100k on a tank but i know some people wouldn't ever spend that much.
myself personally, i cant imagine spending more than $1000 on a tank.. and keep in mind, this is JUST the tank nothing else.
doesnt have anything to do with yearly income at all, its all about what you could justify for yourself, what you would do if you could.. i know that it would be a loooong time before i ever bought a $1000 tank..
Its just a fun thread thats all....

I would go to maybe $5k for the tank itself, $12-15k for the whole system dry goods, no rock, fish or coral. Would have to be over two years tho. This is because I just bought a house and there is a great spot for a 600g tank! And that's about what it would cost me...
For a tank realistically if you go over $500 you really should about double it and get the star fire glass, so prices go up faster once you decide to go really big. The glass is so clear that you can't tell where water ends and air begins. If money wasn't an option, probably $50k would build the largest system I would want to take care of at 2-5000 gallons depending on a lot of things.

If money were no object, I'd commission a tank 96" long, 36" wide and 32" tall with an external C2C overflow and pay whatever the builder felt it fair to charge. No matter how much, it would be less than I spent on my last set of stereo speakers
Are the speakers loud enough to blow women's clothes off like the NAD T770 digital decoder with 70-watt amps and Burr-Brown DACs?

Since the lotto is not likely for me, I'll keep it realistic. I would say I would spend $5k at most for a tank.
So far I am just over $10k for a used 550g glass tank plus a mix of new and used equip. That includes $3k of LED lights, $1k for tank, $1k for rock and sand, $2k for pumps, etc.

All of my tanks have been free. My current 220 was given to my by my father In law after he upgraded to a 300. So I wouldn't spend on tanks.
