I've kept soft corals successfully for years and always had problems when I've introduced hard corals into my tank. How often do you have to do water changes to keep healthy, vibrant acro's?
0 if you are good at testing and great at dosing, every few hours if you don't have the right equipment. You need to provide a lot more details before we can answer.
What units is .0025? What kind of lighting. Nitrates? Phosphates? I hate to be a stickler but what's in range and were there fluctuations for CA and dKH? What happened to the SPS you put in? What type of SPS did you put in? Did you quarantine/dip?
Nitrates were virtually zero. I didn't measure phosphates. Lighting is 2 halogen 150 bulbs, salinity was in the range between 30 and 32 ppm. I'm on the road so I don't have my journal for my alk and calcium measurements but I do know they were within recommended ranges. Most of the SPS did fine. Leathers, mushrooms, zoanthids, pipe organ and clovers all did great. I do dip all new coral introduced into the tank.
I usually change 10% volume of both display and sump tanks weekly. Also, it's a good idea to clean your skimmer and filter socks at the same time. You're sure that it's not your lighting or water flow?
