how often do you clean your skimmer?

Just wondering what everyone elses routine was, I do it about once a month. I want to know if I can hold out longer, or should I do it more often?

I clean mine every 3 or 4 days.octopus 200

Once a week minimum for the cup and neck. The efficiency drops as the neck gets dirty. I try to clean mine once or twice a week.

As far as the whole thing? Maybe 2-3 times a year.

agreed that the cup and neck need cleaning at least 1x per week. don't forget the powerhead as well, since any build up there will impair efficiency

I clean my cup out every couple days. I must confess I have never taken out the whole skimmer and cleaned it. I take the pumps out maybe once a month and clean those.

cool, looks like I can hold off the total cleaning for a few months. Just clean cup and neck more often. Also do you wet skim or dry skim, I am right the middle.

I shoot for a dry skim.

Collection cup every 3-4 days, neck every month or so. Venturi inlet every couple months. Basically, any time the skimmer isn't performing as well as I know it can.

I have an auto cleaning head for my BK skimmers so they are cleaned daily and emptied weekly.
