when i first stated out i was feeding every day. then a friend of mine said every other day. since i did that ive noticed my tang get thin...what is the correct feeding....and i also have a baby lion, whats the correct feeding on her? thanks guys and girls!

I think how often you should feed depends on the type of fish - tangs and angels prefer to graze all day long, whereas some predators only need to eat three times a week or so with time to digest between larger meals.
I generally feed twice daily, morning and night. I also leave some nori in a clip during the day while I'm away. If I'm home during the day, I'll also drop a few pellets in my FOWLR every few hours. I've got a new flagfin angel that's skinny and needs fattening up, and he seldom eates more than a mouthful; this way I know he's getting at least two chances per day to get a meal, and he's slooowly gaining weight. I've tried feeding less, but my fish lose weight - I've got angels, a wrasse, and gobies, all of which are constantly active. They seem to do best with multiple feedings, other fish might not need this.

Well I feed my fish a few meals a day. but I try to keep it small portions. In the morning they get mysis shrimp and flake . In the afternoon I'll drop in a piece of shrimp or some scallops. Then at dinner time I'll feed them a frozen blend . I will add is some brine once and a while to get the fish moving. makes them work for it a little bit by chasing the small pieces around. I don't recomend brine as part of a normal diet but once and a while as a treat is fine. Also every couple days I'll drop in a few small pieces of silversides. Again as a treat not as regular diet . I will also provide nori as a once a week treat for my yellow tang. I have plent of macro in the tank to keep her happy . The eel's only getr feed once a day at night . they each get a piece of frozen mix , Some times they will get a treat of some shrimp or squid but this is no more then twice a week.

I have a bursa and niger triggers 2 snow flake eels a dog face puffer and a v.puffer ,2 perc clowns and a scissor tail goby. Everybody gets feed at least once a day.

I feed my Triggers & Filefish a few times per day, I did feed my lion's daily when they were young now as adults, I feed them every 2-3 days. And on Lion feeding day I feed them a variety of smaller chunks 2-3 times through out day.

When I started out I did have tangs & I did feed them 2-3 times a day plus hung Nori in my tank.

i feed my panther grouper 2 times per day(6 or 7 peices of silversides bout a cm long) Then my tang about 3 times a day (bloodworms and alos seaweed clip)

peace

thanks everybody, im trying to get my baby lion to eat silverslides. hes giving me a hard time, im hoping if he gets hungry enough hell just eat it...

lol how long has he been in there?
Since panthers are always hungry even when stressed he ate right the second i put him in the tank
peace

I feed flake daily, shrimp and a frozen mix (can't remember the name) every third day. I also put some seaweed on the clip every day or every other day. If I feed more than that may tang doesn't graze.

My trigger and eel would eat constantly if I let them but my tank is an aggressive reef so if I fed more often the waste from the two would reek havok on my corals.

my feeding regimin has me with the fattest fish in town, so listen up.
every morning they are given a breakfast of spectrum pellets (very small amount, pulse fed)
in the evening they get Mysis and an additional dead critter (sponge, clam, mussel, coctail shrimp, and their fav, scallops!) i rotate what the additional dead critter is.
krill every other day to the puffers and triggers (they have to do tricks for them, and boy do they know the color of that can!)
nori, green with a small piece of red wrapped up in it every other day
ghost shrimp once every two weeks for the general pop, my baby lion i feed ghost shrimp to every other day ( we are working on converting to frozen)
live brine once every two weeks (just for fun)
all frozen foods are soaked in Zoe and Marine C i quit using garlic, because it made my puffers a little over zealous about food, and it made them agressive toward tankmates.
my current stock list includes:
jawfish, 5 different types of puffers, trigger, emperor angel, purple tang, green bird wrasse, mandarin dragonet (that loves pellets!) and a voitan lion i think that is everyone

good luck
feed every day, so you do more water changes, big deal your fish are happy
