I was on another forum and it was kinda funny the amount of times people feed there fish.now I'm starting to second guess myself.I don't want to over/under feed my guys. Would like some feedback from you guys. Thanks.

I tend to overfeed. I give them too much Mysis daily with seaweed sheets, flakes and or pellets sporadically. My fish are probably all "overweight" and I struggle with PO4 and NO3, but nothing beats walking in front of my tank and having all the fish come front and center to do the feed me dance.

Wow I guess I'm a overfeeder too cause once even sometimes 2x a day.I only give them a little both times.I want to be sure all food is eaten within minuites.
Another quick question.last week I bought frozen brine but stupid me had forgotten to put it in the freezer.when I noticed it. It was completely defrosted but cool.I instantly put it in the freezer.sooooo should I be good or just throw it away?

I have Anthias in my tank, so more than one feeding per day is pretty much a necessity. I could get away with less food each time, though.
As for refreezing, it's probably not disasterous, but with each freezing, cells within the shrimp will explode. I was told this by the folks at Jehmco when they told me not to thaw their 5lb blocks to make individual servings. This has a lot to do with overfeeding. I just break up the 5 lb block of Mysis into chunks. Most of those chunks are of pretty good size, but the 5 lb block is only $30.00. It's tough not to overfeed at that price

5 lbs I didn't know you could get it that big.wow your fish will never go hungry that's for sure! You can't beat the price that's for sure.
They're good people there, too. Shipping is cheap, because they're in New Jersey. Should be ground UPS for you up in Ct. also.

I feed a cube of mysis and a cube of brine daily, and sometimes I'll toss in extra stuff like krill or bloodworms or flakes. This is much more food than my fish can eat and a lot goes into my overflow. I leave the pumps on while I feed.
I have only 7 small fish and I still have undetectable nitrites, nitrates, and phosphates. I think my fuge devours that stuff like nobody's business. My glass is pristine.

I feed once a day, sometimes twice. I switch it up between PE mysis, ocean nutrition formula 2 flakes, and new life spectrum pellets.

Right. My fish went from being scared at any movement, to swarming anyone who gets near the tank. I like the second response better.
I feed 1-3 times a day. A small one in the am, another just before work. On my days off they get another feed just before the white lights go out. I have mostly tangs, so I feed seaweed 1-3 times a week so they pick at it through out the day.
I figure, they can be fat and healthy and I fight off NO3, or I can under feed and flight ick and other fish disease. NO3 can be fixed with a good water change schedule.
I feed omega one flake, and Ocean Nutrition formula two pellet. Once a week I'll do mysis feast. Once a week I'll do h2o life fusion (1 cube). I'll mix the mysis or cubes with reef bugs....

IMO, their Mysis is as good as or better than PE and they sell Cyclop-Eeze which is probably the most nutritious frozen food available. I get my orders in 2-3 days, and have never been unhappy with the product or the packaging. If you have a small to medium tank, it may be best for you to buy with a couple of people to avoid freezer burn from long term storage.
Getting back to the point of this thread, that contributes to how much I feed, I want to use it all before it gets burned in my freezer.

I keep waiting for my tank to fill with algae and the water to go black and teach me a lesson. I hear about people with all these nitrate issues, which I definitely had in my BC14, but I just don't have them and I *know* that I "should". I guess I'm lucky, somehow.
There IS green hair algae on one of my rocks, but it came with the rock. It doesn't grow, just stays stable. I have a few big tufts of it in my fuge that I leave alone because the small amphipods seem to really dig living in it.
