just wondering when how often these BT's split with out cutting them yourself! What may be the best condition! any advice?

Mine go through phases, months of inactivity then they all start splitting. It seems to occur more frequently when they get large.

thanks. mine has already grown 3 times the size it was at the store. I cant wait for it to split. im really tryin to stay away from cuttin it in two, i know its nit hard, but i dont want to take a chance and loose it all together. Ive never prop anything yet!im thinkin bout doin a mushroom first, just to give it a try.

Often splitting is due to stress.
I've seen people over feed to induce splitting, much safer than cutting IMO.

I've had RBTA and GBTA over a year and they won't split. The largest I have are 10"+. What are some things that will encourage them to split? Like water quality, different foods, and that kinda stuff.

How much overfeeding would you recommend? My RBTA has grown to probably 14" across and is getting close to my other corals. I really want it to split.

man thats crazy 11 in 6 months. im worried ill overfeed my tank. i mean i got a few bottom feeders,2 blood shrimp, a crab im still not sure what it is, its red with blue belly, looks like pompom wit out the pom poms, doesnt have big claws. and a brittle star, also a black sluggish thing i only see at night not sure what that is also.

Mine never spilt so Im happy right now because hes in a bio cube.Really they dont have a set time when they split they just do it when stressed.

I feed mine shrimp 3 times a week. And nothing ever comes back out. I am also running 800 watts of mh over a 150 gallon tank. I think the rapid splitting is because the bubble tip can sense the 16" seabey that is 1' away. The best way to secure its safety is to clone its self

Stressing the RBTA will cause it to split. Do you think an ice cube would cause the necessary stress to split? I don't want to harm it, but its getting too big for my tank and stinging corals around it.

My RBTAs only divide when they reach close to 10 inches across. I haven't noticed water changes to make any difference, getting large seems to be the determining factor.

Some people theorize that some lines of BTAs never divide by assexual fission (cloning). Mine are RBTAs that were tank-cloned to begin with. I suspect (based on the info. I've read) that those BTAs that just grow and grow and never divide might be of a lineage that reproduce only sexually.

I recently (last week) bought one off a club member, about 8" across. 2 days later it split---in THREE. I'm sure it happens, but I've never seen it. I'm sure stress of a new environment had something to do with it.
