how often to replace bulbs???

How often do I replace halides and t5 bulbs?

Does it matter if MH's are DE HQI's?

T5s = 18-24months
Halides = approx 1 year

do i have to reduce the time halides are on if bulbs are new? i seem to recall hearing something about the bulbs being too intense when they're new.

no, some mh bulbs have a "burn in" time, which just means they take some time (about 100hrs) to reach their actual color. it has nothing to do with their intensity. no need to reduce the time as it will take the bulbs longer to burn in.....
