hi, Roger,
This may come across as being an odd question. The Tunze 230/3 skimmer is currently in the frontrunning for my choice of skimmer on the 120 gallon tank I am putting together. It'll be primarily an SPS/LPS tank, with a very light stocking of three small fish.
Aside from skimming power, my biggest concern is noise. I understand that the Tunze skimmers are extremely quiet and energy efficient. Has anyone ever sat down with a sound pressure level meter and measured the intensity of the sound given off by the skimmer from say, three feet away? There's very little chance that I'd get to see a Tunze skimmer in person unless I order one.
Ideally, I'd want to be able to put the skimmer in my cabinet, on the side of my sump, close the door, and not hear anything. I don't mind sound proofing the cabinet or what not, but it'd be great to know how they compare.
Regards,
Jason
