how safe is AQUAMAX Sulphur denitrator

after all my fish died last year due to a clogging aquaripure denitrator , i now bought an Aquamax sulphur denitrartor TS-2 .
how can i make sure that its not producing sulphates or some other sulphur product as i couldnt find any testing kits for sulphur .
also has anyone used it ? i was told to let it drip "outside the sump" for 4 weeks before putting the output water in sump .
in 4 weeks my 90 gallon saltwater tank water will all be replaced so this doesnt look right.

please advise dont want to loose all my fish again.

This is used to remove nitrates from the water. Why you should cycle outside the tank??
Read the directions.

That's what the direction says , I also talked to Marine Depot folks and they advised me the same , saying that during first 4 weeks it can produce toxic material.
That's why i am eager to hear from someone who has one or have used one .
