How the heck?

I moved everything from my 40B to a 20g while I add a sump and upgrade my 40B. I've had the same rock, fish, coral, etc for nearly 2 years. Just recently, one single aptasia popped up on one of the rocks. I've NEVER seen any in there before...

But either way, I am moving everything back to my 40 in a couple weeks. Would it be better to treat it now, or just either A. Not use that rock in the 40 again. or B. Kill everything on that rock before putting it into the 40?

This is mind boggling. Not sure why it waited so long to sprout up! I've been pretty lucky with aptasia...

Clearly you've had a few for 2 years. It's not an emergency. If your nutrients aren't out of line they can't become a plague. I have 3 I know about in my reef, and no way will I move a rock to go after them.
