My wifes mermaid section (I hope she doesn't see this) :eek2: :eek1: :smokin: Actually I just waned to show pics of the two new tangs I got today to keep my Vlamingi company.
The mouth structure gives it away as a unicorn. Unlike vlamingiis, they will not eat larger pieces of food (krill), you have to feed several times a day with mysis to keep them fat, and make sure there is always nori present it the tank (your yellow tang might benefit from that also, just constructive advice, it is dangerously skinny). Did you QT the powder blue before adding it?
These are two fish from my best friends tank, He's always out of the state on business and his family has been watching his tank, so he told me I can have them or they will starve to death so this is basically a rescue. I know I should have QT'd hem anyway but I didn't.
if they are out of a friends tank, no worries on the QT - he has pretty much done it for you. When powder blues come from the wild, they almost always get ich, but once acclimated to captive life, they are fairly hardy fish (but mean as hell!). You should tell your friend to buy some goldfish
When I told the wife how big these fish can get she said "When they ge too big for this tank we'll have to get a bigger one" SCORE!:bounce1: :bounce3: :bounce2:
Here is a picture of one of my unicorns - this is a different species to yours (Naso hexacanthus), and he is about 1.5' .
.
He does not develop the "horn" like yours could (once you buy the 2000 gallon tank). You can often tell species by the number of "blades" (caudal peduncle) at the base of their tail.
