How to catch an engineer?

My engineer goby is driving me nuts and I think I just want to get him out. I regret putting it in my tank. Is there a way I can catch/trap it without tearing apart my tank? Please don't tell me I have to leave it.

Unfortunately the way i got mine out was to drain the tank into a few clean plastic garbage cans, pick out the goby which was flopping on the sand and then repump the water back into the tank. It took about 1 hour for a 90 gallon tank with no losses to fish or coral.You can spray saltwater on your coral if you are concern with loosing any coral.

That is awesome, might have to get the rod out! Lol He is being evicted because he piles my freaking sand everywhere. On top of my corals and everything. I don't mind that it tunnels, it's just where he puts the sand when he does it. And he rarely fully comes out, and when he does it's to snatch a piece of food and go back inside his hole.

He's still a juvi, just getting his vertical stripes, about 3 inches long. Give him away if I get him out. I live in Indianapolis if you wanna come get him. Lol

I have used the hook and worm trick a couple of times with success over the years. the trick is to get a barbless hook and as small as you can possibly find.

While doing my wc, I shoved all his mounds of sand back under the rock like I do periodically. Then I realized he was out of the hole and had no place to go and was freaking out. So I scared him to the front of the tank and scooped him with the net. Best of all, no damage to the tank like when I was trying to get the stupid coral banded out! Too bad, loved the fish, just not what he was doing. My son can enjoy him in his tank until he outgrows the tank. No worrys about bulldozing sand as we have gravel in his tank
