Not if its a mantis. As I said many species of mantis have evolved to handle environmential extremes. A mantis caught in a tidal pool at low tide, in a rain storm, may very well end up in what amounts to fresh water. The flip, the same mantis caught in a tidal pool at low tide on a cloudless day, could end up in water that has a salinity of 2x or more salt than standard salt water. In both cases that mantis could be there for quite some time.
The only thing I have ever heard of working is to over dose your tank on Interceptor. Normally in the reef hobbie it is used to kill Acro Red Bugs, by interfearing with how they molt. This will kill ALL crustations, Copopods, Amphipods, crabs, anything that molts.
You can only get Interceptor from a Vetrinarian, as its proper use is as a flee killer. Most vets won't give you Interceptor for your tank.
