how to clean swingarm hydrometer

hello all,

I have the instant ocean swingarm hydrometer and am getting to the point where i will need to clean it of the salt residue that lines the sides. Any info would be helpful!!!

Ditch the swingarm and get a refractometer.

i go rinse it with freshwater immediately before and after every use and make sure that it reads <0.001 with the room temp FW in it
i've never let it build up or sit in the device, so i've never had to use anything other than fw

The best way to clean them is in the garbage. As gws76 get a pinpoint or refractometer.

Here is another vote for getting a refractometer. Swing arm hydrometers are notoriously inaccurate and inconsistent.

Even though a refractometer is more accurate, soaking in white vinegar and rinsing will eliminate the scale. Rinse with DI water after each use. Get a refractomater when you can afford one.
