How to dose kalk?

Many if not most tanks can handle saturated limewater for all evaporation replacement. If not (meaning pH or alk get too high) just add less solid lime to the limewater. :)

so you think I will be ok, I was thinking of adding 1 tsp to a gallon of ro/di and see how that goes. or do you think I should go ahead with 2? Sorry for so many questions I don't wanna over dose and kill what I have

if I dosed for 12 hours while lights are off I would have to dose about 300ml 50ml x 6 minutes every hour for 12 hours to get about 1 gallon. seems like a lot of ph swing?

sorry to bother you again Randy but I just looked at the timer I have coming with the 50ml doser and I can only program it for 6 times a day. Is 600ml an hour for 6 hours at night lights off going to be ok is that to much? I could do it every other hour I guess. Or would I be better to spread it over a 24 hour period and do 600ml every 4 hours?

Great i think i am going to start with a half a teaspoon per gallon at first since i am going to be adding that much and then ramp up from there. I have mostly soft coral at the moment. I am going by the calculator that i should be adding 24.7 oz with 2 tsp. I figure by doing 1 gallon thats 128oz so i am going to cut the kalk i add by 4 and add .5 tsp a gallon since i am adding five times the amount. Sound good? My new mag test kit will be here tomorrow along with digital ph meter so i will test those tomorrow but i am sure they are good i was checking mag reg. calcium is 430 alk is 9! Sound good? Thanks everybody for the help!

Thanks everybody I will keep you posted on results. I will take a before picture and then one a month to see if it changes anything.

I currently use kalk with my ATO. It does not maintain Ca and alk where I want them so I started using two part dosing (recipe 1) from BRS. My question is, would it be better to do two part only with RO/DI ATO, kalk only, or is it ok to continue as I am. Thanks

I was running 2 part and had a 2 dosing pumps one for Alk and one for Kalk, then was toping off seperate.

Lesson number 1 5g plastic water jugs will hold Kalk 2 days before eating through bottom and leaking in floor. Trip to Home Depot 20g Brute problem solved

I'd personally use both, but just the two part is also a fine plan. :)
