How to "feed" chocolate chips

I bought a pair of Harlequins last week and they've polished off my entire asterina population already. So today I purchased a chocolate chip star and I'm feeling a little guilty

Can I please get some advice on the best way to care for my Harley's? Right just now they are picking away at the chip. I knew before I got them that I'd have to do this but seeing it is another thing.

Should I...

Let them eat for a day or so and then remove the star to another tank to recover?

Should I cut off one leg and put it in my Harley tank and let the rest of the star recover in a different tank?

Should I freeze the entire star and feed small bits at a time?

I know the ultimate end is most likely the demise of the starfish - I just want to make it as easy as possible on the poor beast...I'm sure they must feel pain being eaten alive :-(

If I should remove the star to "recover" what do I feed it to keep it alive and happy?

Thanks for any help from those who've been this route.

in my country they sell frozen starfish... just like mysis or artemia
i also know some who collect starfish at the north sea and freeze them, feed tiny bits at a time

I keep a few chocolate stars in the sump. About once/twice a month I chop a leg off the star to feed the harliquins. As far as feeding the star, I dont think there to picky on what they will eat. I got some fresh scallops and cut into smaller pieces and freeze them. 2 times a week, I will give the star a piece of the scallops by just sticking it under them.

just get a like 5-6 choc. stars and cut off a leg now and than, but make sure to spot feed them a lot
