ok I've been reading many articles all day and what's in everyone's experience the best approach to fight, vodka, vinegar please give me some input how to save my tank, my polyps are shriveling up. I don't have a po4 test kit yet no one in town carries it so I ordered one from foster and smith any ideas I do have 4 other tanks I could move them to but will I move the dino's with them.

Following along I just started treating my tank with DinoX and I will let you know how it works. I tried lights out for 72 hr but it came back within 3 days.

Here's my struggle. They have not come back.

That threads about your cyano problem? Cyano and dinos are very different critters. Cyano is bacteria and dinos are protists. They could hardly be more different and still both be alive, as they do not share a domain. It's like the diff between me and a virus

Here's some good info about dinos http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2307000
They are a pickle, good luck!

Yeah I had thought it was cyano at first but it was obviously not. A double dose of chemiclean did nothing to get rid of it.
I have kept up on others who have these problems and have seen very similar things relating to dino's.
Every situation will be different obviously, but this worked for me.

yep have to agree with many of you went to the thread on dino's from 2013 and it was quite a large problem back then and still is with no two agreeing on solution but with over 2,000 variations of species sounds like no 2 responds to the same treatment. best guess is my best hope right lmao

How's it going with the Dino? With the help of the DinoX a UV filter and running my lights for only 5 hours a day after a 3 day period with only moonlights I no longer see any.

This thread is the thread to read if you have dinos. So much good information in there.

I had dinos pretty bad. If you read the thread you'll learn about the "dirty" vs "clean" methods. They seem to be the most effective, way more effective than DinoX because there are many different strains of Dinos and only a few are even bothered by DinoX.

Personally I did the dirty method, stopped water changes, added some LR from other tanks to increase the biodiversity, and dumped a whole lot of zooplankton and phytoplankton into the tank. Also did a 3 day complete blackout to top it off. It worked for me.
