How to get more Zoa coverage on LR?

I've started getting some zoa frags....... I have a small rock with about 10 polyps of Eagle Eyes....... and i guess a colony on another small rock of about 30ish polyps of no name Blues

Both are currently on the sandbed, but not next to any of my LR. I want these to spread out on my LR. Will they only spread to other rocks if they are close or touching them. Or do they release something in the water and wherever it lands.... it starts to grow there?

They need to touch the rocks to grow on to them.

Make sure the zoanthid flesh is touching the rock you want it to grow on

Yeah if you super glue(supergluegel) the frag to the rock it will grow onto the lr.

I would first frag your frags onto plugs. You might be able to make 3 or 4 from each of your frags. Then I would wait several months while they grow out. Then I would glue or expoxy your frags on whatever rock you wanted covered.

It seems like a little wait but youll be happy wiht the results.

be careful when cutting your zoos. they are toxic.

seperate each polyp. glue them to the rock close but not touching, a single polyp will grow faster than a polyp that is attached to one or more other polyps. thats why the polyp in the middle of a huge colony doesnt produce any baby polyps

this would work better to cover a surface than if you set a small colony on the same rock.
