How to get pink color back

Nice piece, what salt do you use that keeps your potassium up that high? I have trouble keeping mine above 375. I go through a bottle of brightwells potassium supplement way to fast...

I use Ocean Reef Prodac , it's a Italian brand. Dissolve very fast , really great salt.

It's been a long time to update this millepora. The color has shift totally to green almost. Lost all the purple pink. I am slowly ramping up the white to have a 10k spectrum. Hope to get the pink color back. Should that do it??? :(

Not pink but still a good looking coral.

Yeah it's looking good. Really good pe and it's slowly starting to grow already and it's very bright green now. I wish i can get the pink back , but for 10 bucks it was a really great pick up.

There was an article some where. .....I think advanced aquarist maybe I can dig it up. It was speaking about pink and red coloration being best drawn out under really high par. It still needs a good full spectrum just really high par like in the 600 range if I remember correctly.

Let me see if I can find the reference.

Also, on a side note you could always dial the red channel up on your light and see how the reflective pigment changes.

I would leave it alone and enjoy it. I for one wouldn't change or tinker with an important part of my tank just in hopes of getting color on a coral. Color comes more from stability and the right tank environment. Once settled in for a while it will probably get pink tips again. Mariculture Millie's change color a lot. Normally ones that look almost all yellow with orange tips turn out to be green with a little color in the tips. Most of them change colors and or shades dramatically and are hard to keep the original color the sun has given them. Zeo tanks are the only tanks I have seen keep neon pastel colors on corals, and even then it may not be the same color they were when they were in the ocean being cultured. The redish colored Millie's do like high par though.

I agree. It looks cool now.

If you want a pink mille I'm sure you could find one.

I have another Mille frag in my tank. It's a rainbow. The owner fragged it off from a colony that he grow out. I'm afraid that I can't keep the red and blue and will turn green too. The owner is using cheap leds and with 50 nitrate and still can keep the colors :headwally:

Try increasing PAR intensity as the pinks really like high light. Acclimate or in other words move slowly with increasing light.

My intensivity is from the start already 100% , but I like the 16k look more, so I turned down the white. I'm already slowing ramping up the white for a 10k spectrum. I think that I need to raise the red too, my red is just set at 12%. Was always afraid that I will get algea from the red.

Well the zooxanthale is algae and corals need a red spike but I'm not sure if that's worth chasing.

Can you move your light any lower?

Update

I'm so happy , my Mille is starting to color up. I see it is starting to get the pink tips today. Will try to make a pic tomorrow, but it's so hard to make a good pic with those leds .

Very nice....I use leds also. I run about 1000 par at my water line. I really like buying 5$ browned out acros and sps. A few days of being in my tank they always get tons of color. Looks like yours do the same great looking piece!

I have a red planet that has turned green over the past several months. After sending out a water sample to triton i found out my iodine/iodate was through the roof. I have since stopped dosing iodi+ by prodibio and my red planet today is starting to get its pinkish color back. I also tested my water this morning and the iodine is 0.03 and iodate is almost at 0.2 it was much much high then this. So this is just my experience as you may want to check your levels and see if you have the same problem i did.

Did you turn your whites up or just give it time?

I've turned the White and red a little up and keep my hands off the coral. I'm really excited how it will turn out. It's also starting to encrust. At day time it is so hairy that I can't even see the base color.

Thanks for the suggestion , but it's starting to colouring up now. I think it lost color by stress, just need time to settle in.
