How to get to SPS Nirvana

SPS Nirvana

SPS Nirvana

Wow...
I have two MP60 , Two MP40s and Two Tunze nano stream in my reef. I think the issue is getting blasted with too much flow.

I thought I read the more flow the better.

I learned my lesson about buying corals recently acquired out of the ocean. Wont do that again.

Another expensive lesson

That's not too much flow for a 300 gallon, your corals being directly in front of the power head might raise problems. You said you had death I'm leading towards pests or lighting issues. I love flow and pound most my SPs with little issues. It could be so many things but I highly doubt it's your flow. Everyone is regards to stability is correct but having an even spread in light and adequate light is very important as well. Where are the brown corals and dead one in relation to your lighting?

I think thsoe claiming it could be flow are off base. Some good pics of corals would be helpful. If that's not possible a description of what's doing well and what's not would help. I'm suspecting a pest is the problem as well.

Thats a huge amount of flow :) the 60's are very powerful. What ~% are the pumps on?

The issue is likely many compounded together. Maybe its not. No one can say for sure.

Im not saying the flow is the issue, or a problem. Just to be mindful of its capabilities.

Many other "claims" have been stated. I didnt feel the need to reiterate. Nor do I think taking multiple considerations into account is off base. Sorry if this comes off snarky Peter, just taken aback by your remark but maybe i am overreacting.

I would rather be uncertain than certainly wrong

It doesn't come a across as snarky to me. Always tricky to read how people are comminucating something on message boards. As far as I'm concerned it's a friendly discussion, simply because we disagree on the possible cause certainly doesn't mean there's any offense taken. I also hope none was taken on your end, because it wasn't intended.

It is a lot of flow. I just don't think for that size tank it's anything that would cause stress in corals. If it was only corals that were near the pumps I'd reconsider my stance. If it's happening in various areas of the tank then I really doubt that flow is the problem.

I guess its just the paly toxin talking ;) no offence on my end. Its been a long week and im just irritable today. IPS (irritable post syndrome)
