If it's a slip bulkhead on the main part, I'd take a 8ft section of pvc, elbow & short piece of pvc. Only insert into bulkhead slightly & then go fishing. Once you thread the nut from the outside, just knock the pvc out & you're done.
If threaded on inside, then staple some double sided tape to a 2x4 & stick the bulkhead perpendicular to it then go fishing. The reason to staple the tape is to make sure it doesn't stay on the bulkhead.
