How to glue corals onto rocks?

Gel super glue has always worked for me but if you bump it then it will break off the rock a mix of epoxy and super glue works great.

What is the best way to keep corals on rocks. I see alot of people use that puple puddy what is that called ?

Loctite makes that purple puddy. It is actually an epoxy tube like aquamend and jb weld. It is available at Lowes for around $6. It is a coralline algae magnet too. Mine gets covered in purple in no time.

Bought a bunch of puddy over the weekend, works a lot better than glue alone. Have gone through a lot of super glue trying to get corals attached but my turbo snail and tuxedo urchin always managed to knock things lose since the glue never holds well. The puddy + glue gives a much stronger bond.

Just put glue on the coral frag, then puddy on the glue then glue on the bottom of the puddy, makes a much stronger bond.

What do you do if a coral dies and it needs to be removed?

break it off i guess or get in there with a chisel. what about when a coral starts to grow and needs to get moved from other corals to avoid conflict or for better flow and they need to move.I used to put them right to the LR but then in 2 years when you have matured coral colonies you have to move entire rocks around...not fun, you end up making many frags.

I tend to glue many frags to a piece of rubble (maybe 1-2" sq.) then glue the rubble (using a lot of gel glue to the rock. that way I can pop off the mini colony if I need to move it once it encrusts and grows out. I never keep any frag on the disk (too many pests can hitchhike). learned this method from a good reef buddy only thing is he uses a self-molded epoxy plug to glue the frag to and has a LR with a plug hole in the tank to move the coral plugs around down the line.

That's what i do,glue the coral to tiny pieces of rubble, and putty them to my rockwork.Tank is packed so if need be i can pop them off and move them around.I don't trust glue, big turbos can break the bond and it heart ache everytime to find something laying on another acro dead.I swear by D&D putty, sets up rock hard and the skimmer doesn't overflow like others puttys cause.
