How to kill ICH on rocks

I will be upgrading shortly to a 120g dt from my current 75g dt. it appears that my dt just came down with ich. My plan is to remove everyone and treat in QT. It appears that now would be a good time to do my upgrade. I have plenty of rock and sand to start the new tank and would be able to bleach my skimmer and pumps. so what is the best way to kill it on my old rock so I can add it to the new tank either when I make the change or at a later date. I don't care if I kill the bio as I will be starting the new tank from scratch due to the ich problem in the 75g.

any recommendations?

Just leave the tank fallow ..You can transfer all your LR to the upgrade tank but just leave the fish in QT

If I'm not using any material from the 75 when I upgrade I shouldn't need to leave it fallow and could return the fish sooner. Could I just let the original live rock dry out for a week or so? Or dip it in bleach?

Sure ,,just let it dry out in the summer sun..I wouldn't bleach anything ,just let it all dry out

Just make sure it's totally dry. Leaving it in the sun will help as heat will also kill ich.

Drying will work or heatig the water too . 104 degrees farenhiet for at least 1 hour . Chlorine will also work.Either way be sure to recure the rock ., since die off will occur and decaying organics can cause trouble.

If you want your live rock to remain "live" with beneficial bacterial and micro fauna you will have no choice but to set the new tank up and leave fallow without any fish fr 10 wks. The drying and heating both will work but will kill off anything in the rock that would make it live rock as opposed to base rock

What do you guys mean by leave the tank fallow? Are you just saying by leaving the ank without fish for (x)weeks the ich with basically die out while still keeping your live rock "live"..

Yes ,exactly ..Ich NEEDS fish to host and complete its life cycle ..No fish,no host ,ich dies off..Yet the exact number of weeks is always changing and seems to be debatable

Chloroquine phosphate. Will kill the ich and won't harm the biological.

Cysts have survived in one study for 72days in a tank without fish. So., that's teh most common time frame though 6 to 8 weeks is likely very effective.

Hadn't heard that Cholorquine phosaphte would kill the encysted tomites.;just the swimmers ,I thought. In any case it's got a lot of phosphate in it.

thanks for the help/comments. Not sure if I will let go fallow or just kill it all and start fresh.
