I have tried boiling water, joe's juice, aptasia x all with no luck what can I do? I have a few nuisance mushrooms that I can't get rid of...

I too have some bland brownish shrooms that are growing like mad. I would like them gone. They are on a big rock that cant really be removed. I'll be watching for any good ideas to rid my tank of them.

Its always the ugly ones that grow fast and intestinal fortitude of superman...why cant, for once, it be a really cool brightly colored coral:rolleyes:

I have some brownishgreenishgrayishmuchish zoa that just wont go away in my nano...

WOunded, they only reproduce, and will survive the cycle. Remove the rock and sell it to somebody with a FOWLR tank they'd like to texturize.

cover it in epoxy that will drown them out of nutrients and kill them the downside is a whit blob on your rock, but that get covered in coraline. and if that don't work:blown:

nothing i have found is more effective at nuisance removal than a blowtorch
.

I have a micro torch and a blow torch that I use for removing aptaisia. Works like a charm but I do not recommend this method to the average idiot. Careful application of a micro torch does wonders. Nothing will grow back. If you absolutely feel that you can't live with the shrooms. Get yourself good eye protection. A torch sized for the job. A ventilated location. Extra tank water to dunk your rock in to keep things refreshed and the rock as a whole cool. For something large like a mushroom you'd want to remove the bulk with a razor first, and then turn the remains to ash. A hobby micro torch would be the best as you have great pinpoint control.

I just toasted a purple mushroom with kalk paste, perhaps he is cowering in a crack planning his comeback but for now I cannot see him.

Cut them off, scrub remaining chunks with a stiff brush, then take turbo Ca or (Ca Chloride), mash your brush in it and scrub the area with it. Also, you can take a syringe with kalkwasser and inject it in them, but put a toothpick in their mouth so that they don't spit out the limewater.
