How to kill off monti digitata

I have some encrusted monti digitata on my rocks that's taking over any ideas on how to kill it? 1 thing is I cannot remove the rock structure. It's just taking over. I can put putty over it but I'm looking for other possible ideas

Epoxy is the only option I have found. Break all branches off and cover the encrusted part.
